This week on my Facebook group, I shared a little video introducing myself and answering some questions that some ladies asked. I thought I would share it with all my blog followers too! ;)
One of the questions I got a couple of times after the video was how I planned my outfits for the week. So, I thought I would do a post today on how I plan my outfits out! :)
First of all, I always follow some kind of style prompts from a style challenge on Instagram. Right now I'm doing one from my friend @readwriteteachstyle.
My admins and I will be making one for February, so stay tuned ;)
I always plan my week of outfits on Sunday night after church. It does take me about an hour, because I try everything on and make sure it looks just as good as it does in my mind. Then, I start planning the week of outfits. I look in my closet, and pick out something that matches the challenge for Monday, and continue to go down the list until I get to Friday. I know most of you are thinking, Wow! That is a lot of time to spend on picking out clothes. But honestly, if I didn't invest the time, I would wear the same thing over and over because I am always running late in the mornings and don't have time to play around with trying to find a new and different outfit.
This is what my floor looks like as I am laying my outfits out.
I try to never repeat an outfit, but if I do, it's because I didn't plan ahead of time. After, I have all the outfits laid out, I fold them on top of each other with Friday on the bottom and in order with Monday on top. It saves me SO much time and stress! I just get my hair and make-up done and go to the stack and pick off the outfit on top! So easy! Hope that helped some of you! :) Now you can see those outfits I laid out, on!
Dress: Ross || Shoes: Payless || Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Skirt: Thrifted (Banana Republic) || Shirt: Ann Taylor || Cardigan: Thrifted (Target) || Flats: Payless
Thank you Lauren, you are such an inspiration. I started dressing modestly a year ago when going out in public. I still wear pants when I'm at home. Keep up the great job!😊
I love the 2nd, 3rd and last outfits best! Bold colors look great on you! I usually lay out my outfits at night, but I usually plan them in my mind, keep a mental note so I don't repeat. :) Grace
Thanks for the video! I didn't know your name was pronounced like that, even though I have seen how you always have the little accent thing or whatever over your name. Guess I never thought about it. I'm sure people mispronounce it all the time lol
I am wondering what plans you have in the works to mix it up with your outfits. All of your outfits for the week are a pencil skirt except the dress which is a pencil style on bottom. I agree that they shape is flattering and easy for most people but would love to see some more idea on skirt styles besides pencil or the occasional maxi. Would also love to see some shoe ideas besides ballet flats which again are comfy and simple but were in all the outfits this week. What other shoe styles do you like?
I don't have any plans on changing my style. I think pencil skirts are classic and professional and the most flattering. There are many other skirt styles, but they don't look flattering on me, therefore I don't wear them. You're supposed to wear what flatters you! I am a full time math teacher on my feet all day, so I wear comfortable, cute flats. I wear heels and wedges on the weekends to church.
Even though pencil skirts are not my style at all, I take Lauren's ideas of color and tops and use them with skirts that work with me. So even if you are not into pencil skirts, you can still gain ideas from Lauren :)
Hi Lauren! Just wanted to say that I think you do an excellent job selecting outfits that are beautiful, classy, yet unique! You've really helped me develop a better style. Thanks for encouraging us ladies to dress modest feminine and stylish. Thank you also for the sweet attitude and testimony that you show forth every week! Francesca
I just love your style!! You always look so classy! You have definitely been a big help to perk up my modest/feminine wardrobe!! I have a question about weekends and your days off....I know you work full time, I'm a stay at home mom....so do you dress the same way when you aren't going to work? I like to get up and get ready and look nice each day of the week, however since I don't work outside the home there are days I'm lazy with my outfits. Do you have any advice or wardrobe ideas for days you don't work, or do you dress the same on days off (breaks from school, Saturdays, etc)? Thanks!!!
Thank you!! Well I only get Saturdays off usually...so if I stay home I stay in my pjs! But, if I go out, I wear a Jean skirt, maxi skirt, or some other causal comfy skirt!
