eShakti Dress Review & Posh Giveaway!

Hello!!!!! Is anybody still out there in the blogosphere!?! I took a very LONG break, a much needed break! So here's a Luke update for those who don't follow me on Facebook/instagram: Luke just finished his hardest, most intense chemo phase, Delayed Intensification. We get a week off of chemo, and then Tuesday, the 27th, if he makes counts (ANC must be at 750), he will start Interim Maintenance 2 (IM2), which consists of 3 different chemos, which is supposedly not as bad as prior phases. Then after 8 weeks of IM2, we will FINALLY start maintenance, which is going to the clinic once a month for one IV chemo, and taking daily oral chemos, and a week of steroids each month. Maintenance is both exciting and scary all at the same time. We've been going to get weekly blood counts for a whole year, sometimes 2-3 a week, so it is VERY scary that we will only get one blood count per month for the rest of his maintenance treatment. Since he still has his port in, we still have to be super careful for him to not be around anyone sick for the remainder of his treatment, because with any fever of 100.4 or higher we have to go to the ER and get blood cultures done to make sure his port is not infected. We will be totally finished with chemo on June 18, 2019! I CAN'T wait for that day! So there's a little update on our crazy life. Luke is doing very well considering he just went through the hardest phase. He has needed a couple of blood transfusions, but other than that, he hasn't had any complications. Praise the Lord!

I was contacted by eShakti a month or so ago, and was asked to review a dress. I have worked with eShakti in the past and they have great quality, so I decided to do another review. I have been looking for an olive dress, since my old one is too big. I found this olive dress and thought it would be perfect for what I was looking for! I'm so glad I chose it, because it was a great pick! You have the option to customize any dress, you can pick different sleeves, length, necklines, etc. So, it works well for super picky ladies! ;) I actually didn't customize this dress, but I did my last one.

Here's the stock picture of this dress:

Shabby Apple Review & TWO giveaways

Since I can't really go OUT shopping very often anymore, I have become an online shopping addict! Please Luke, hurry up and get your immune system back up, so I can go back out shopping again! Haha! But as of lately, I am a sucker for comfortable dresses/skirts since I'm pretty much always either at home or at the hospital.

We all know finding dresses long enough is a hard task to accomplish. I've been on the Shabby Apple website many times eyeing their gorgeous modest dresses, so when they contacted me to do a review & giveaway, I was SUPER excited! Shabby Apple truly has a dress for every occasion, from casual to formal.

Since I don't have any special events to go to, I decided to pick a more everyday dress that could be dressed up or down. I chose the Sycamore Jersey Dress. It is sized by numbers, not S, M, or L, which is different for a jersey type dress. I kind of liked that, because I ordered a 10 and it fit perfectly!! I would say it is very true to size. This dress is amazingly comfortable, I felt like I was wearing pajamas to church.

If you head over to my Instagram, I'm doing a giveaway for a $25 gift card to Shabby Apple!

 photo IMG_2836.jpg

I know I've shared my love for JORD wood watches a couple of times before. But, I just got a new one, and oh my word...It's drop dead gorgeous. It's the Frankie Ebony & Gold watch.

 photo IMG_2835.jpg

JORD loves Modern Modesty readers so much that they are giving away to ONE of you a $100 gift card, and ALL of you get a $20 off coupon just for entering the giveaway here! I've shared how much I love their watches, but my husband loves them even more! Such a perfect gift for your hubby! ♥

I should be at the hospital all week, *fingers crossed* if Luke makes counts tomorrow! This will be his LAST and final admission for high dose methotrexate! YAY! Interim Maintenance is almost done! Thank you for your prayers, we need & appreciate them! Love you all ♥

Transitioning to Fall

It's about that time where we can start getting excited that fall is coming! You know what that means...pumpkin spice everything, red leaves, and cooler weather! It also means that most of our bright summery clothes get put away until the spring time! I don't know if you're like me, but I love pieces that can be worn in summer & fall! I found some of the most perfect transitional pieces and wanted to share them with you!

 photo IMG_2735.jpg

This dress came from PinkBlush, I absolutely LOVE their site and the hundreds of dresses they have! PS, for all my pregnant mamas, they have the BEST maternity section ever! PS. They have a discount code for 25% sitewide, just enter WHATUNEED at checkout!

 photo pink3_1.jpg

I know a lot of you nursing moms are always looking for dresses to nurse in, and this would be super easy to nurse in!

 photo outskirts1.jpg

I also received my first skirt extender from Outskirts, and if you needed some extra length on this dress, it's great to pair it with.

 photo outskirt2.jpg

The only downside about this specific extender is that it has full bottom, so it only blends well with another full bottom dress. Most of my dresses are fairly straight at the bottom, so I need to get a straighter extender next!

 photo outskirts4.jpg

The cool thing about this extender slip, is that it has an interchangeable bottom, so you can change the color or the style super easily!

I have been looking for a modest cold-shoulder shirt for a while and I finally found one at Bealls!! I wore it on a date with my husband and he loved it! It's also super transitional for fall!

 photo IMG_2719.jpg

I also have found a new skirt that I LOVE from H&M, it's super stretchy like yoga pants, and only $12.99! I got it in 3 colors, and love to wear them around the hospital and my house! When I go out in public, I usually wear a tunic or kimono to cover my booty! ;) It's rather body con!

 photo IMG_2689.jpg

Last by definitely not least is my new favorite dress style, the Julia dress from LulaRoe! (Sidenote: I will be having a LulaRoe Pop-up in September, I'll share the group when I do!) But this dress literally feels like a big t-shirt. SO comfy and stylish!

 photo IMG_2649.jpg

Also, my beautiful friend Melissa did a review on Younique's Skin Perfecting Concealer for me, and I LOVE how she uses it and she gives her honest opinion! Subscribe to her channel to get more makeup tips!

Thank you so much for reading! I love you all! God Bless & have a great week!♥

LulaRoe Craze

I'm sure by now you've heard of LulaRoe? If not, have you been under a rock?! :P But, seriously it seems like ALL of my friends are jumping on board and opening up their own LulaRoe boutiques. My favorite thing about LulaRoe is the great dress & skirt options! I love that once I found my size for a certain style, I can order without wondering it will fit or not!

One of my readers who owns her own boutique wanted me to try the Azure skirt, which I didn't have yet, so she was sweet enough to send me one to try and one of you lucky ladies are going to get a chance to win one too! ♥

I have the Cassie skirt already, but it is very "body-con" if you will...so I think the Azure skirt is definitely a lot more modest by its self! Same thing with the Julia dress, it is more form fitting, and the Nicole is flowy and perfect! The Cassie and Julia can be made modest by throwing a kimono or longer shirt over it! But if you prefer to not have to "fix" things, the Azure skirt and Nicole dress will be perfect for you! (Those are the only styles I have, but I know there are many other modest options, I just don't have them yet!)

The Azure skirt is a flowy a-line style skirt, that will flatter any body shape! Here's how I styled mine!

 photo IMG_2092.jpg

PS. This is the most comfiest skirt of all time.

 photo IMG_2093.jpg

Each pattern is only made into 2000 pieces, and then it's gone forever! So, that's why its like a treasure hunt to find your size and pattern!

 photo IMG_2094.jpg

If you want to win one, you just need to head over to my Instagram and enter to win on there! Just follow the directions under the giveaway picture or you can also go shop under my friend's online boutique here!

If you are interested in owning your own boutique, you can visit Wendy's website here to learn more!

Have a great week & God Bless ♥

Accessories for the Modern Man

I've had my husband guest post a few times, and everyone loved it, so I decided to let him take over my blog for the day again! If you shop for your husband, or your husband has an instagram, my husband posts his outfits on his instagram @dapperpreacher. Check it out and follow him! :)

----------------------------------------------------------

Hello! I was pretty excited when my wife told me I was going to get to model a watch for her blog again! JORD wood watches are becoming more popular on Instagram, and I've seen a lot of style bloggers I follow wearing them. I picked out the 94A series in Dark Sandalwood. I like the manliness of a big face on a watch, so this one was the perfect size. As you can see in the next two pictures, it can be both casual and dressy.

 photo jord1.jpg

Right now, JORD is running a contest exclusively for Modern Modesty readers, and everyone is a winner of at least a $20 coupon, but the grand prize winner will receive a $75 coupon!! Be sure to enter here!

I just wanted to share a few of my shirt/tie/pocket square combos. Just like pattern mixing is in style for women, it is also for men. Here's some of my looks. Hopefully, it will inspire some of you and/or your husbands.

Summertime Fun & Modest Swimwear

I haven't done a blog post in SO long!! I really need to get back on a "normal" blogging schedule again, but it seems impossible with my very unschedule-able life! (I know that's not a word) ;)! Here's a quick update on Luke, he is in his 3rd of 5 phases of "frontline" chemo. We are in a phase called Interim Maintenance, which consists of going to the hospital to be admitted every 2 weeks for a 4 day stay to get a very high dose of methotrexate. Then, he also takes oral chemo at home during this phase as well. He did REALLY well with his first dose of the 4 he will have to get. It's known to cause VERY bad mouth sores that can go all the way down the esophagus to the booty, but praise the Lord, he didn't get any sores! We have 3 more of those high doses, then we move into what is called Delayed Intensification, which is supposedly the hardest phase and when most kiddos lose their hair (if they haven't already!) I'm not going to lie, I'm really trying to NOT think about the next phase, but it's so hard not to worry. I try to live in the present of each day, and thank God for the health and strength Luke has daily. Please pray for us, especially in the next couple of months.

Today was a fun day, filled with lots of sunshine and smiles! Luke loves going outside and playing with his water table!

I just got my new HydroChic in the mail, so I had to test it out and break it in! ;) I have another HydroChic that I got last year, and I have worn it almost every time we've gone swimming! LOVE the quality and fit of the skirts.

 photo hydro3.jpg

This time I got the Aqua Terra Ruffle Swim Skirt, which has a skirt length of about 18.5”, and the shorts underneath have an inseam of 6.5”. I also got the Tidal Tank Sporty Sleeveless Swim n' Gym Top in a size Medium. Both pieces are chlorine resistant, quick drying, and have an UPF 50+ sun protection.

I LOVE our new pool float! Haha!

Here's me, being me...lol

Last week, we celebrated our little man's 2nd birthday! We had a small little party at our house and had so much fun!

I seriously can't believe he's TWO already! Many of you have been following me way before he was even thought of, so I'm sure you can relate! Look how handsome he is!

Here are some of my outfits I've worn to church the past couple of Sundays!

I LOVE this shirt from Shop Hello Grace. It just rings true for our current family situation. "Let's be brave together."

Modest Swimwear

One of the most popular questions I get is "What do you wear swimming?" So, anytime I get an opportunity to do a review for a modest swimwear company, I love to share it with you all! Today's suit is my new fav! HydroChic has been my go-to since I got mine last summer! (a new review is in the works for them again too) But, I REALLY like this new suit I got from UnderCover Water Wear.

I chose the Striped Rashguard Swim Top with Coral Sleeves. I'm so glad I did! It is perfect for my Snow White self...lol! It's the perfect coverage and fit!

 photo undercover1.jpg

For the bottom, I chose the Black Mini Skirt with Shorts Attached. For you tall girls, this might be too short on you. It's about 18" long, but for me, it's perfect. I wanted a swim skirt that hit right over my knee, and this was exactly what I was looking for!

 photo undercover2.jpg

They do also have longer versions, but I already have more of a midi length black skirt with leggings attached, so I wanted something a tad shorter. This is super easy to swim in and you can feel totally comfortable around everyone in it!

 photo undercover3.jpg

So if you are looking to invest in a quality modest swim suit, I think this is a great option! I will be doing more modest swimwear posts this summer!

 photo undercover4.jpg

Just a little update on Luke: Luke is doing great! We had a SUPER big scare on Thursday when he went into anaphylactic shock after receiving his preventive antibiotic for pneumonia. It was seriously the scariest thing I have EVER seen in my life. The second she flushed his IV, he screamed bloody murder, than turned completely pale and limp. His blood pressure crashed and he was out. Thank God for quick thinking nurses and doctors that gave him an epi and sent us to the ER to recover! We stayed for 2 days just to make sure it was an allergic reaction and not sepsis. Thank God, he is doing great! Tomorrow, Luke is supposed to start a new phase of chemo where we have to stay inpatient for 3 days, but I don't think he will make counts. (I won't be sad if we get a week off!) Please be in prayer for my husband and our family as we lost my father in law suddenly on Saturday. If you would like to show love to my mother in law you can give here. Please continue to shower our family in prayer for strength during these crazy times in our lives.

 photo IMG_1078.jpg

Don't forget Father's Day is coming up soon! I have another gift idea for you! I got Stephen a KLIX Leather Phone Wallet! I think it's a great option for guys, so they can just carry their cards, cash, and phone all in the same wallet! I used my phone to model it for you all! ;)
