The Power of the Tongue
It's no secret that I have a lot of people that don't like what I stand for…but for some reason, up until about two weeks ago, I was keeping these people in my life. Why?? I have no idea. They constantly criticized me publicly, mocked me, so on and so forth. (When I say me, I mean my blog, Facebook group, etc.) Every time I read a critical word about my page, I cringed and would get so mad! Why did I keep allowing myself to read these negative words!!? Finally, two weeks ago, I deleted and blocked all of these people that have been "bullying" me for the past 7 months. I can't even explain how free I felt to get those negative people out of my life. I still love all of them, but I can't allow them to continue to hurt me with their words. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21a, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue.." I pray that the Holy Spirit helps me use my tongue to lift up others, to edify others, to bring happiness and joy to others… I never want to be that person who belittles people, who trolls the internet looking to start drama, and never has anything good to say.
God has given us the ability to speak, he chose US, to spread His gospel. He doesn't use angels, animals, or trees, he uses sinners. May we use our tongues to spread the good news, not gossip! May we use our tongues to edify, not criticize! May we use our tongues to make someone smile, not frown! God has given us the ability to make someone feel happy or sad… It's your choice, how you use your words…so make someone smile! :)
Now onto the clothes! :) One color combo you can never go wrong with, is black and white! I love the chicness and classiness of black and white! I love that you can wear it all year and just change your color of pop each season! Today I chose to pair it with mustard, my favorite fall color!

Words are very powerful and they can cause severe hurt, that's for sure! We can't control what others say but we can learn from them and never let anyone cruel slip out of our own mouths!
ReplyDeleteLooove this outfit!! I am ALWAYS wearing black and white. so adorable :)
ReplyDeleteVery insightful post and your outfit is so cute! Words are indeed powerful and I believe we are here to spread his gospel indeed! Glad I stopped by. :-)

So glad you blocked them! What you are doing is important and needed.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry anyone was leaving you hurtful comments. I've had my fair share of rude people "trolling" as you say. Not fun, ever. I've had comments from everything to my being ugly and having an ugly family to people putting accroynms of my name incorroprated with Satan. This isn't my natural reaction, but I usually try to pray for those people. They obviously are hurting for some reason and really need Jesus (not that everyone doesn't need Him, just to say they need Him RIGHT NOW) I'm reminded of one of my favorite songs by Hawk Nelson, such a great reminder! The words go something like: "Let my words be life, let my words be truth. I don't wanna say a word, unless the words point back to you." Something to keep in my mind always!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! Keep up the great work and don't let the turkeys get ya down! :)

'Those' people in life are at least good for teaching you not to be 'that' person to someone else! My hubby uses this quote all the time: "the best way to avoid criticism is to be nothing, say nothing, and do nothing.' I'm grateful for the stand you're taking publicly to encourage ladies to glorify God with their bodies! <3 you!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! Good for you for getting rid of those negative people. Nobody needs them!

Thank you for your blog and FB page. I have learned a lot through your knowledge of fashion. I have a black and white skirt similar (smaller stripes) so now I just need to go buy a mustard shirt, cute outfit.
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute! Love this outfit... and why can't we all live by the rule: If you don't have anything nice to say... keep. mouth. shut!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at CCMcAfeePerspective} Inspired By.
Healthy discussion is one thing. But why people feel compelled to mock others is totally beyond me. Anyway, good for you, and nice outfit!
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry that people were being mean regarding your blog. Then why don't they stop reading it. Good for you, for deleting them. They are not worth your time. You need positive people in your life. I feel sorry for those people who feel the need to hurt other people in order to make themselves feel better and really at the end of the day they probably still don't feel better.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit.

you look very pretty in this outfit! very nice!
ReplyDeleteI love black and yellow together. That or with blue (cobalt esp). Darling post.
ReplyDeleteI love what your blog stands for! I struggle with knowing what is "constructive criticism" and what is just plain mean. It's hard to not let negativity define you sometimes. We are loved in Christ, and should be confident in that.
ReplyDeleteBtw, love this color combo. :)
